Do I need a permit to drill a water well in Oklahoma?

The Oklahoma Water Resources Board does not require intent-to-drill authorization for domestic wells used for household purposes, livestock up to the land's grazing capacity, or irrigation of less than 3 acres. Other uses, such as public water supply or irrigating more than 3 acres, do need authorization. Confirm your situation with the OWRB or your driller before work starts. Permit guide

Can I drill my own water well in Oklahoma?

The OWRB documents we reviewed do not say whether a landowner may drill a domestic well without a licensed driller, so we will not say either way. What we can say is that the OWRB requires a license to install water well pumps, that licensed drillers must follow state construction standards, and that the OWRB is the right place to ask before you start.

Should I repair my pump or drill a new well?

If the well used to give enough water and then stopped, start with the pump, pressure switch and tank. A technician can test the pump and measure the water level to tell you whether the problem is the equipment or the well. Well pump repair
